The World Health Organization defines Social determinants of health (SDH) as “non-medical factors that influence health conditions”. These can refer to a wide range of factors that systematically shape the conditions of daily life and influence the physical and social environment which we live, learn, work, play and age.

The following papers discuss specific health behaviors in the context of the social determinants of health and describe insights to policy, practice, and/or implementation. The papers also address the health objectives of the nation (United States) as outlined in Health People 2030.
